Support the Library

Donation banner Alford

In these, my first months in Toronto, it is exciting for me to carry on the work of my five predecessors since 1892 at the University of Toronto Libraries. The work of generations of scholars and librarians, staff and students, has created a strong and vibrant library, a national--even international--treasure, here in Toronto.

Our goal is to support learning, teaching and research as well as to preserve the cultural record for the future. Gifts from members of our community, both locally and around the world, are part of this tradition and contribute profoundly to this aim.

I am deeply optimistic that my library colleagues and I can build on the profound legacy of expertise and collections that is the university library system and continue in partnership with faculty, students and donors to build and enhance our commitment to the community of scholars.

Larry Alford, Chief Librarian
